Piraeus Port is the hub for the connection of continental Greece with the islands, an international cruise center and a commercial hub for the Mediterranean, providing services to ships of any type and size.

Today P.P.A. S.A. employs more than 1.500 people and annually provides services to more than 24.000 ships. P.P.A. S.A. contributes to the local and national economic growth and continues its development by upgrading infrastructure and services provided.

P.P.A. is developing into a modern and dynamic business that will offer high quality services, will keep investors satisfied, will ensure long-term job security and serve commercial transactions in Greece for the advantage of the national economy and the costumers in the most efficient way and within the context of the global port industry.

Piraeus Port offers unique advantages because of its strategic position and infrastructure. Situated in the outskirts of Athens and only 10 km away, acts as the main gate for Hellenic imports and exports.

Situated close to the international trade routes, the port is a hub of international trade being the only European port in the East Mediterranean providing the necessary infrastructure for the accommodation of transshipment cargo.

PORT FACILITIES

I. Container Terminal
Piraeus is the only port of the European Union in the East Mediterranean with the biggest and most important Container Terminal.
The container terminal constituted of Piers I and II, expanded in a total area of 900.000 sq.m with total docks length 2774 m and a total annum capacity of 1.6 – 1.8 million TEU

II. Car Terminal
There are three Car Terminals expanded in a total land area of 180.000 sq.m with five ship accommodation locations and storage capacity of 12.000 cars.

Infrastructure at the Car Terminal is expanded in order to serve demand and IT system is introduced in every stage of the handling process.

III. Coastal Shipping
The anthropocentric character of the services provided by the Central Port is a basic priority for the P.P.A. In this context, the port aims to continually improve its services:

Digital information displays for passengers, indoors and outdoors, pedestrian bridge construction, smart stations and free transport service within the port, improvement of passenger terminals- renovation of the passenger terminal at Tzelepis coast, construction of 2 WC’s for the disabled, construction of waiting areas with air conditioning and water coolers, renovation of 6 canteens, 3km of path for the disabled, regeneration of 350sq m at Kononos Street, 130 parking spaces, 2 vehicle control points, traffic control, free WI-FI service.

IV. Cruise Terminals
The cruise terminal constituted of 2 Passenger Terminals and 11 places for berthing vessels, 60 slots for coaches and 1 helipad. The Port of Piraeus is a very important and attractive destination for cruise ships in the Mediterranean Sea. P.P.A. S.A. aims to raise its share in the cruise field, in order to yield considerable benefits for the national economy by creating new employment posts and increasing the income from tourist exchange currency.
