The foundation of the  institute of Goriška local energy agency is the outcome of a successful application on the open call from EU programme »Intelligent Energy Europe«, that  stimulates the creation of a network of local energy agencies (LEAs) on the whole territory of the European Union. GOLEA is one among the first four working agencies in Slovenia (LEA Pomurje, GOLEA, KSSENA and LEA for Drava region).

The activities of these agencies are co-financed at 50% by the IEE programme for the first three years. At the end of this period, each individual agency must become an independent, useful and indispensable institution in her environment.

Mission of the institute GOLEA Nova Gorica:

• implementation of development, research, educational, promotional and advisory activities in the field of energy efficiency and  introduction of  renewable energy sources  in Goriška Statistic region with an orientation to maximize local energy self-sufficiency  and enhancements of welfare for the population;
• enhancement of positive attitude and increased participation of people and institutions on field of sustainable use of available energy sources, with special stress on renewable energy sources;
• integration and connection of specialists and institutions from  developmental, scientific and educational fields and development,  support for research of new technologies and procedures; sustainable uses of available energy sources;
• transfer of achieved knowledge from experiences and of technologies to practice and development of innovative activity; keepings and belays of life environment and natural heritage and assuring of development and of durability of human, of natural, of energy, of information, of cultural and of other stocks and of their keeping, racionalizacije, developments and implementations in our living environment.
